They're still around?

It's true. We're all getting older. Sadly, and I just found this out yesterday thanks to the Discovery Channel, we're all getting older at the exact same rate. That still shouldn't prevent us from mocking those who are further along in the process. For example, consider this picture (below) of the band Laaz Rockit. Mary mother of jesus and baby jesus, they're ancient. Oh, and nice...uh...see through shirt champ. Who knew that such a severe case of Tommy Victor Disease could exist?

Right now you're probably asking yourself..."hey, what do they look like on stage these days?" Well, perhaps this picture will answer that question. They basically look like a local Cult cover band, with a little Springsteen thrown in for good measure. Check it out.

Jesus christ, this guy makes Lou Reed look healthy and youthful.

If you're insane, or you have a severe deathwish, you can check out their site here. If like me, you are a sane human being and would rather remember things the way they were (by that I mean when they sucked, were a fourth rate band but at least looked pretty dope aside from the mesh shirt) then watch the video below. Why is this video so great (aside from the mesh shirt and the 'fro?) Because it's like having your uncle tell you made up stories about a war he was never at. Listen and learn kids.

  1. hahaha local cult cover band with springsteen thrown in for good measure... that's just freaking gold right there! Laaz.. what a crock! I don't understand why ppl liked them, so crap compared to bands like Heathen, Vio-lence, Sacred Reich.. btw Lucho have you seen "Just Say Sacred"?? you absolutely must review that shiz!

  2. I’ve never heard of Laaz Rocket: I don’t suppose that I’ve missed much. They look like they are in the line outside of the Wayne’s World auditions.

I did like it when bands wore free t-shirts like the Zildjian one though my personal favourite was when they wore Virgin Atlantic ones to show what good humour they had.

I like the guy in the very last few seconds who suddenly hones into view from the left and says ‘England’s a great place’ : now that is a true example of the last days of thinning long hair before a friend takes you to one side and persuades you that a shaved head is better.

A change of look was probably a good idea; the Jamaican mafia have long memories, so if they’re planning a European tour anytime soon they should keep those ugly old men masks on.

  9. Age has not been kind to Laaz Rockit, that's for damn sure. Great post as always, keep it up, Lucho!

  10. A while back when I was like "I wonder what's up with Sacred Reich" I found their myspace and some of their kids were linked to it with descriptions like "My dad used to be in some band."

I always wanted to like Laaz Rocket because they seemed superheavy with all the rocket launching insane warriors on their covers, but then all their other imagery was really cock rocking, so I erred on the side of not being a poser and bought Virus "Force Recon" instead.

  11. Holy shit, Phil Rind looks like an insurance salesman/little league baseball coach now.

  12. Yeah he kind of always did though... He transition from being a sketchy ice cream man to the "cool" fast food restaurant manager to a little league coach pretty smoothly.

  13. I never listened to these guys when I was young and now I feel like I really missed out on something powerful. I'm going to revisit their catalog. Kudos!

  14. I always thought Phil looked a bit like Fred Flintstone.

  15. Sacred Reich's "The american way" is boring, half thrash. While listening to it I wondered for 40 minutes why a talented drummer like Greg Hall wasn't allowed to add some speed: a great, wasted talent.
Lou "drum-machine" Clemente from Testament, instead, should have been the perfect drummer for Sacred Reich...

  16. I've never heard Laaz' Rocket. For some reason during my youth I always thought they were something to do with Kiss. Inexplicable, I know, but it still permeates my thoughts on them now...

  17. I once brought up Laaz Rockitt to my uncle and he casually glazed over them as to say i wasnt missing anything by never listening to them.

Sargeant D - If your reading this, My buddy Pete whos 39, is friends with the singer from beowulf so i could probably go to the man's house or contribue research on the guy, but thats only if anyone here has actually heard of them. pete mentioned that the guy has a bunch of letters dave mustaine wrote to him while he was in rehab. I bet it would make for some good laughs if i ever got my hands on those letters.....
