Authentic Roman Catholic Funeral Doom

Forget about Disembowelment, Thergothon, Esoteric. If you want real funeral doom, nobody does it better than Roman Catholics. Especially during the holiest, and most metal, of all holidays--Easter. Honestly, what's more metal than Christ crucified? Nothing!

Here's a little taste of how it's done in the old country. Real old school style.

  1. For anyone who can understand italian language...there's a church near my place.

On church's wall there's the drawing of a cross, with two menacing writings: "se mi accogli ti sorreggo" on the left, and "se mi rifiuti ti schiaccio" on the right!

    That's DOOM!!!

  2. Not to get all nitpicky, but actually Good Friday was the crucifixion, Easter is all about resurrection. And that, gang, is totally metal. Think about it, how many more metal songs have 'resurrection' (or some derivation thereof) in their titles than 'crucifixion'?

  4. most people i know from highly catholic countries are very conflicted...even metal dudes from places like italy will love satanic bands, and talk crap about ol' JC...but they'll still wear golden crosses around their neck. this goes for most south american metal fans. i love this juxtaposition. at the end of the day...it IS metal. holy crap. crucifixion, drinking blood, eating the flesh. its the most metal thing ever!

  5. where i come from, we have one word for both "eggs" and "balls". so for easter we drink the blood, eat the flesh and smash the balls. and then eat 'em. not only is it metal, it's also a tad kinky.
